Stolen Mountain Bikes - Stirling
« on: March 12, 2012, 09:41:23 PM »
Elaine and Ali have had their shed broken into and bikes stolen.
Took place a fortnight ago.
Police are being incompetent so it's over to CSI-SBC. ::)

Ali's bike is a Giant Trance - but with a Scottoiler on with blue tape and a short stem (the photos show a bike bought at the same time).

Elaine's bike is her silver winter bike (Giant XTC? - details to follow).

Were locked together and so may still be inseparable.  Keep your eyes peeled please .
Cheers!

This bike looks similar. What is odd by the description is for such good spec bike it does not describe it as such and no mention of the Mavic SL wheels. A few parts look different i.e. pedals, chain guard on the rear wheel, saddle. There are scratches on the rear stay which could be unique.

Hi Illya,

I don't think Ali's was an 18 inch frame, I think her one would have been a S/M size.  :)

"Ship?" he called. "Yup?" said the ship. "Do what I do." The ship thought about this for a few milliseconds and then, after double checking all the seals on its heavy-duty bulkheads, it began slowly, inexorably, in the hazy blaze of its lights, to sink to the lowest depths. -Douglas Adams

Any chance of someone emailing (not posting to the open forum) the serial numbers if known via one of the committee to the club members?

It might save the odd bit of embarrassment if we do spot similar bikes out and about...

An interesting question.

Thanks for your help.
Due to the lack of information on the stolen bikes our search is going to be restricted to keeping an eye open for abandoned bikes in the local canal, or dumped in a skip somewhere, or maybe ridden by a local ned on his paper-round.

For everyone else: please take photos of your bikes, focussing on the unusual bits, and record the frame numbers. .

Cheers:
