It is also typically a Veterans competition with times being taken into account according to age - for this reason you may see some veterans pairing up with younger speedy guys to mix and match the bonus for age and speed!

Route starts in Thornhill, turns left at the Kippen roundabout, heads to the Castle roundabout and I think to the firestation and then back on itself.

Quick question,  now this a BC event, can 2 people from separate clubs enter as a team, or do you have to be in the same club?

Andrew,

That's a hot topic after Musselburgh! Don't know if you remember, but there was a composite team of girls who were not allowed to start by the organisers/commissaires for that reason.

I looked in the BC handbook, which I hold as secretary, when I got back, and my reading of the rules is that it's not allowed. I think the best thing would be if Norrie were able to get a definitive ruling from SC on this and post up the answer before we have a similar problem to the Musselburgh organisers!

oh yeah, i  forgot about Musselburgh, although that at least that worked in your favour  that time($$ ;D).   Would be good to get a definite answer but no biggie if not allowed. Got a race the day before so was just going to do it for a bit of fun anyway :D   Cheers Katherine for checking :)

that's a bit poor if the ladies didn't get a start?

I did the Musselburgh two years ago with a guy from Pedal Power and one from ERC.  We asked beforehand and were allowed to enter on the proviso that we wouldn't be eligible for any prizes but still get an official time.

Seems fairest way all round to me.

Have defo seen composite teams in the Boomerang in the past but maybe that was under TLI.

May just be organisers discretion hopefully!

I think the Icebreaker(?) 2-up allows composites?

As Mark says, it must be at the organisors discretion - at the Mussleburgh, they allowed a youth team to start with only 2 riders and then end up with only a single finisher.

Also at the Icebreaker the second place pair were a mixed club entry as were the pair in 12th.

If you are aiming for well below the hour Andy, let us know and we will get Norrie to scratch you  ;)  :P

Does this mean you have released Mr Cooke from team duties for the Boomerang just because there's loads of corners??  :(  ;)

Graham - you come down to the Pru during the holidays mate and we'll show that Mr Wilson  ;D

The Boomerang is a SVTTA trophy and as long as you are a member of the SVTTA you can win the boomerang trophy with any partner from any team. (Last years winner was Derek Stewart from Deeside Thistle partnered by John Campbell of the Royal Albert) Any other prizes are at the discretion of the the organising club.
One point that was made last year was the fastest lady prize went to a a lady with a male partner, and other ladies from our club felt a fastest lady team prive would have been more appropriate.
Hope that helps

Thanks for the comments folks.
I'll need to discuss with the race committee and get back to you with definitive answers. However, as a club, I'm sure we want as many entrants as possible to enjoy the event and can be as flexible as possible in order to accommodate as many as we can.
The SVVTA trophy, which is an actual Boomerang, can only be awarded to an SVVTA member. Once we are passed the closing entry date and have the full start sheet, we can ensure prizes are laid out fairly for all.
(The biggest prize for all would be some of the weather we are having just now!)

Folks,
Following on from our discussions re mixed club teams.
We can accept entries from mixed club teams and record their times for them, however they will not be eligible for prizes or official times that will be submitted to BC and SC.
Having looked at the wee blue book last night and had a discussion with the race committee, that is the position, sorry.
The SVTTA element of the race is different, but the non-handicapped element cannot allow mixed teams.
I always thought it was about the taking part and not the winning anyway!  :P

On another note........... I am looking for some volunteers for marshalling duties and the like.
Any offers will be greatly appreciated.
