I've pulled my achilles tendon. Unusual biking injury unless you're an old g*t stamping desperately on the pedals trying to stay on a wheel...

Ouchy :-[ Did it just happen half way along Deanston Graeme? Manage to limp back ok?

On my Friday commute home I tweaked something at the back of my left knee.  Rode out with 10am group on Sat with a painful but manageable knee however after Dunning Glen climb and riding towards Still O Manky my knee gave way.  Unfortunately needed to left glass crank it all the way along the Foots O Mole Hills.  Some no doubt would argue that I've had a chronic leg disabling power reducing injury for the past 10yrs or so.  :'(

As I near the big 50, Graeme Git No.2 can assure you that my excuses will become more and more grandiose.

Cheers Graeme. All that to look forward to! Hope it's nothing too bad.

Was just after we passed that guy standing by the side of the road on the Deanston road.  Haven't torn anything though and walking a lot better today. Should be OK if I take it easy for a bit :-\

Graeme - if ur achilles is still a bit sore when on the bike, I've concentrated on making sure I pedal more toe down so there's less stretch and staying away from climbs as this encourages more heel down.  Hope ur achilles is better soon.

Bibs! Never mind your pseudo-compassion, I reckon you'll secretly be thinking that it'll slow the 'big' Graeme down a wee bit  ;) and give you a fighting chance!!  :P

Starts up good n proper tomorrow night. Just in time for the snow/wind/rain.  6.30 at usual start.  There was chat of possibly doing the Deanston/castle finish circuit once a month over summer just to keep it fresh too.

Good fun last night, 2 groups, with only 4 of us in the scratch before reinforcements from Rob and Jack arrived(who then just towed us around pretty much :D).  Kinda forgot to tell them we were only doing 2 laps though due to lack of lights, which led to a neutralized sprint as it was discussed ;D

Think 3 laps should be a go-er next week tho.

could saddle be a touch too high Graeme?

I've got what feels like the start of tendonitis in both achilles this morning - due to deliberately seeking out hills for this foolhardy Strava climbing challenge i'm halfheartedly indulging in.

Think dropping saddle 5 or 10mm is meant to help.  Be careful though - I was reading Sheldon Brown's website and he reported getting trouble with his achilles years back and never fully getting rid of it even after 40 years. >:(

Hi Dieter

I asked one or two who were out last Tuesday and we thing one more week of 6:30 start would be best, given the light levels towards the end.

It's 3 laps though, so you could come up and ride the course the other way and if you're lucky get 2 laps in. According to my GPS data, we finished the 1st lap after 30 minutes (including the run up A84 Blairdrummond road), so if you are turning in to the lap before 7pm yuo might make it for 2 laps?

Any other regulars, SBC or other clubs/teams let us know what you think.
