MTB ride Sunday 27th May
« on: May 24, 2012, 07:14:40 AM »
A stroke of genius is the only way I can describe John80's suggestion of a ride in the Ochil's this weekend. With this dry spell we're having it's the prime time to go up there. So who's up for it?

Suggestion 1.

A re-run of last year's Silver Glen-> Ben Cleuch -> Glen Quay -> Dollar run where we stay on the tops (and hence well above 2000ft) for a significant part of the ride. This time though I'd attempt to finish it with an intact bike!  :-[

Suggestion 2.

The always popular Silver Glen -> Ben Cleuch -> Upper Glen Devon Reservoir -> Glen Bee -> Sherrifmuir Inn. Where we could then sit down and enjoy some proper brown and murky beer, (none of this fizzy German pop nonsense).

Kick off at 10.30am on Sunday morning from Logie Kirk carpark, with options for meeting points along the way.

Anyone up for it?

The Upper Glen Devon ride is a good un'. Not as long as the Eastern Ochil's ride, but it does have the lure of the Inn near the end. Oh, and as I'm sure Jo and Dom will confirm. It's nearly all downhill from Ben Cleuch.  >:D

I'm happy to do either ride, let's see what sort of consensus we have by the weekend.

Sounds like a really good ride! I'm a 'maybe' just now depending on what my plans are for Saturday night.

Slightly scorched from today's ride, and looking forward to tomorrow. Anyone else care to join us?

Well that didn't go quite to plan, did it?

Looking forlorn and friendless in Logie Kirk carpark, Beagle naemates Boy headed up into Uni and Mine woods for a wee blast on the dusty trails today.  :'(

Truth be told though, I wasn't much looking forward to the climb up Silver Glen in this heat. I think it would've done for me.  :P So don't worry about it dudes, you actually, possibly saved my life!  ;)

Would have joined you for more sunday sunshine, but otherwise engaged on Sunday. I just wanted to say thanks to you, and all the other MTBers on Saturday for making me feel very welcome. I really enjoyed the outing, and now that I am finally on line, wanted to let you all know. cheers. TC
