Thanks Dougie,

I've got to do some physio over the next 6 weeks, so I'll see how this goes and let you know.  Hope to be back on my bike soon, at least on the road, so hopefully I won't need it.

Cheers,
Paul

Hope you make a speedy recovery, Paul.
I didn't earn the right to wear that top...I was the only one it fitted!

Try and keep the lid on it when Jake says " Right Dad, about cornering downhill,  what you do is ..........."  >:D

All the best Paul - speedy recovery  ;)

Sorry to hear that Paul. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
I have a turbo trainer somewhere in my garage you can
 borrow if you want.

Dougie

Knew it!
 ;)
Would say that I was behind Paul on Dumyat and it was definitely the tyres fault, the way the both leapt up in the air simultaneously was beyond belief. Get well soon, thr beers are on you next time
Smile, it confuses people.

Ooh... Does it have funny big clown wheels :-)

Would have loved to, as I have a new bike to try too, but I only have the morning free :-(

Have fun!

This Saturday I turned to bike mechanic extreme, meaning it all took longer than expected, just finished! Started 9 this morning.

First task Vida's bike
New chain, cassette (thanks for advice from Fly Fox as newer Shimano cassettes need spacing out as this hit the Cranks Brothers hub!!), granny ring, middle ring. Replace 4 Whyte E5 suspension bearings. Replace rear tyre. Clean parts while off. All want well  :)

Second task my spare bike
Check over if all ok. Nope, the rear brake hydraulics oil evaporated not uised for so long. Ok so flush through and bleed. Spare bike now ok.

Third task my Whyte E120
Remove forks and rear shock to send off for a service. 2 years so due. Clean parts while off.

Fourth task replace bearings in a Hope XC rear hub.
This did not go well. It was an exercise in bash the $#@"$!! out of the hub for about an hour to remove the non free hub bearings. They have been in there for 5 years. Note to self to not ignore for so long. The trips to work in the rain finished them off. This task took as least 2 plus hours. Fitting the free hub teeth was a pain. And clean parts while apart.

Fifth task put cleats in to new shoes to replace MTB race style shoes destroyed while hiking Torridon. Note to self to wear more sensible shoes when hiking a bike for 5 miles.

Sixth task
Open a bottle of beer.

TC, Jamie and myself met up at Costa's today. Despite TC's promise of sunshine the day wasn't looking very promising but both my riding buddies agreed with my plN to head over towards the mighty Dumyat.

Dumyat was soggy, but not as bad as expected. As we climbed though the clouds came down and the temperature dropped. Just before the summit we swung left and quite literally dropped down the northern side of Dumyat. At this point I have to single out TC for some praise. For someone so new to offroad biking, the skillz ( with a z) and bike handling shown down that steep descent would put quite a few of us more 'Experienced' club members to shame.

Down on the Menstrie track we dropped down to the ford which was running very, very high. I blasted through, with TC close on my tail. Unfortunately, Jamie was suffering from a slight dose of 'new shoes' and was unable to ride the ford. After watching him tiptoe over the wee bridge thing we headed down the rest of Menstrie Glen, enjoying the scenery and the remarkably dry trails. From the bottom of the trail we then worked our way back to Corleone's for bacon butties and coffee.

We had a cracking day out and I'd like to thank Jamie and TC for dragging me out and lifting my spirits.

 Cheers dudes, Beagy xx

Absolutely agree with you, and thanks for the compliments. I still need to speed up a bit though. Glad we helped you lift your spirits, not to mention the hangover (understandable).  See you all soon. TC ;)

Carron Valley was busy today.  Beginners to Lycra skin suited out no camel back water bottle only 'we are fast' (no your not) riders. Saw quiet a few roadies out too coming from Fintry. Good to see people out riding. Lots of cars coming back while riding out.

Hey Stew, we missed you on Saturday, what'd you do?  Nothing painful I hope?

Took a slide down the final descent into Menstrie, had to go into minor injuries in Stirling and have them clean/stick my elbow back together, the nurse turned out to be a keen MTB'er! Felt it best to give it a few days to heal a bit before going out again, hopefully will be out later this week.
