Sam and myself are riding this 4th cat road race near Peebles on Saturday.
Couple other local-ish riders who we know, otherwise not many names I recognise.

Good luck and have fun!!  My entry wasn't accepted.  Will just stick to a saturday run from the peak for the first time in a couple of months.

Conditions were predictably rancid for this 44mile 4th cat road race down near Stobo. It was raining all the way round meaning plenty of gravel sandwiches/belgian toothpaste.

6 laps of a 7 mile-ish course, a flattish back straight with a wee climb on it, and the other half a pretty narrow climb/descent.

Sam and I managed to stay right near the front all the way round, avoiding spending much time at the front. VC Glasgow South and Bicycleworks were attacking and countering, seemed to be working well for their riders.

Attacks went and were reeled in, big Michael P of Falkirk bellowing and encouraging folk to work. Last lap, pace was steady, nobody wanted to do anything into the headwind before the final climb. The usual surges to the front as everyone wanted good position, then it hotted up a bit and we were able to keep pace but alas Sam had some brake problems that were holding him back a bit.

It's a tricky finish, fast downhill and then uphill for almost 1km, I hesitated a bit before sprinting, might have done better (coulda woulda shoulda) but if you go to early you are goosed before the line. In the end I made up quite a few places and got 10th!!! My best result ever so pretty satisfied. Sam was held back by this brake issue but did well for 24th only 1 minute down, and would have been higher if he hadn't been on heavy winter bike methinks.
