The Drummond Trophy
Stirling Bike Club's Prasad Prasad, riding for Scotoil RT proved that hard work and dedication pays off by lifting the Drummond Trophy at the weekend.
On one of the toughest courses in the area, taking in both the Braes of Greenock and the Dukes Pass climbs, Prasad looked strong from the start of the 75 mile loop. Leading the bunch out for about 20 minutes to chase down a 4 man break up the road prior to the first prime on the Braes which Andrew Wright secured. From around 60 starters the bunch was reduced to about 35 riders by Strathblane where the race took a left turn for the Campsies - and stayed together to the foot of the final accent on the Crow Road. The long final climb saw the bunch string out with Prasad outdoing 'King of the Mountains' Andrew Wright to take victory and secure his name on the trophy along with the likes of David Millar. Bryan Russell finished 16th @ 10 seconds and Iain Nimmo finished 22nd @ 15 seconds. Other local riders were Neil Cameron (11th) and Liam Innes of Falkirk (12th).
