Scottish Development Road Race Series
Anderside, 25th April 2004

Stirling Bike Club's new kit has seen plenty of action in the early road race season.

On Sunday 18th April, at the Anderside race heading into the middle of knowhere and back from Strathaven, Alan Hay, Kerr Watson and Paul Davison and 67 others set off in grim conditions for a 60 mile jaunt. An early break involving eventual winner Simon Smith (Falkirk BC) stayed away for most of the ride. Alan Hay was active in chasing but punctured a long way from home (and handily chucked a pump by Kerr "en passant"). Kerr and Paul stayed with the chasing bunch which was gradually whittled away by punctures, wee and not so wee hills, and a headwind on the finishing run-in. Paul managed to get 10th place in the uphill sprint, with Kerr a few places back.

On Sunday 25th, beautiful weather greeted the 2nd SCU Development Road Race run with about 65 starters on an excellent hilly course near Cupar in Fife. Once again, Falkirk riders were much in evidence in breaks and 3 man group eventually finished about 30 seconds ahead of the bunch. Kerr Watson grabbed 13th place in the sprint, running in 3rd placed 4th cat rider, with Paul Davison a few places backing 19th. Photos from the Development road race:
