| Stirling Bike – Ochils
Traverse 25th July
2004
Mickle Corum,
Blairdenon, Ben Buck, Andrew Gannel, and King's Seat
Featuring: Beagleboy, Eddie and Me
Starting from Stirling, we climbed on the Sherrifmuir road to Harperstone.
We then started the long slog up Mickle Corum.

Beagleboy climbs
A mixture of riding, pushing and carrying took us onto Blairdenon before we descended towards the top of Silver Glen. The section north of Craighorn was very boggy.

Bogtrotting (Ben Cleuch can be seen in the distance)
It took us 4 hours to reach the top of Silver Glen, from where it was the traditional push onto Ben Buck and an easy ride to Ben Cleuch

Eddie and Beagie push onto Ben Buck
A delightful skoosh off the summit of Ben Cleuch (the highest point in the Ochils at 721m) took us towards Andrew Gannel, but not without mishap…

Beagleboy gets caught in the tar-pit.
Out of water, and with discretion being the better part
of valour, and all that mince we decided that rather than
attempt a full
traverse we
would head from the top of the Andrew Gannel track onto King's
Seat and descend into Dollar.

Eddie climbs back onto King's Seat from the east

Lookingtowards the descent off King's Seat

Proofthat it wasn't all carrying!
Beagleboy descends
A grand day out!
Trip Information
Total distance - 35 km to Dollar or 55km returning to Stirling in 9 hours.
Height ascended 1468m
