I'd just like to reiterate and support the words of Dave and Mark however I would like to thank both of them personally on behalf of the club for the considerable time and work they both put in to making Sunday and CotC such a great day. The sunshine gods shone thankfully and to everyone who attended on the day to support the club and in particular the work of Dave and Mark chapeau.

It was after all Easter Sunday and the start of the holidays but those who made the time turning up not only from 6am but over the course of the day to marshal and assist your efforts do not go unnoticed.

I assure your all your help is greatly appreciated by all involved in running SBC.

Thanks again folks.

Dougie

Hi all,

I'd just like to add my thanks. Huge thank you to Mark (and family!) for all they did on the day, and their assistance in what was a fairly stressful week leading up to the race!

As for everyone's efforts on the day - thank you all so much. The feedback on the day has been outstanding. This is a very well-loved race, with the course, the atmosphere and the way the event is run all contributing to that. It provides an opportunity to race for all youth age groups, and for groups who are often isolated from such events, like the Special Olympics riders. Sunday made a lot of people very happy, and none of it would have happened without your efforts. Thank you!

Dear All,

What can I say - other than a BIG resounding thank you! The SBC marshalling team once again did an absolutely brilliant job and made the day’s racing a huge success.

Rather than too many more words from me here’s a few from the participants:

"As always ... a fantastic event/ Massive thanks to you and all at Stirling BC for putting on a great days racing"

"Thank you so much to everyone who made this event happen today. Great organisation, fab weather and the best atmosphere of any road crit race I've been to. Such a shame we had to leave and are missing the afternoon races.”

"I would just like to say what an excellent race the crit was today. Its very well run and the volunteers were excellent. This was my first time competing in this event and i thoroughly enjoyed it.”

"Thanks from all the guys at Special Olympics. It was really good to be included in such a big event and all the riders had a great time. See you next year."

And a quote from the Chief Commissaire Hendrik who is a national commissaire for British Cycling :
"Thank you to you, Dave, as the organiser, to you, Mark, for leading one of the best marshal teams I have ever seen, and to everybody at Stirling Bike Club for making ‘Crit on the Campus’ the successful event it is."

There’s a also a great write up here: http://www.mummysgoneacycle.com/racing-realities/ - this is just a selection of the comments and there’s loads more comments on the facebook page and Twitter. It takes a team to make an event like Crit-on-the-campus happen and although I’ve said it before the day wouldn’t happen without your professional, competent, friendly and helpful work throughout the day from 6am to nearly 8pm. And whilst Dave and I try to look after you all, if there are ways we/SBC can improve the way we run events please do drop us a line.

So thank you for volunteering and doing it so well.

Best wishes,
Mark

Dear All,

Dave Lindsay & I would like to say a huge thanks to you for volunteering. The event would not be able to happen without you. We have approximately 430 riders taking part and once again some of our Youth races form part of the Scottish National Youth series. As last year the event also provides an opportunity for riders with learning difficulties from the Special Olympics a chance to compete in advance of their Anniversary Games in the summer ( www.specialolympicsscotland40.com/ ) which will also be hosted by the university.

The marshal briefing will be held up the stairs from sign-on in the atrium of the Andrew Miller building at 7:45. For those who have offered help for the early set-up at 6am (ugh! - but even more thank yous!) we will meet at sign-on.
Note: There will be a sign-on sheet for volunteers/marshals and people will need to collect their food and drink vouchers from me.

The marshal pack can be downloaded from here: Marshal Pack.pdf which gives details of who is doing what and when - please can you check this and that I have got your availability right. If there are any errors please can you let me know ASAP so I can correct them. I have tried to make sure there is sufficient relief marshal support and paired people where I can to make the day as enjoyable as I can. For those doing Gear Check, please can you arrive a little bit early as you will be given training by a commissaire during the Youth E sign on process. I’ll send a PDF of how gear checks are carried separately - I promise it’s not difficult! For those on car park and front entrance duty please work with your relief marshal to make sure you get to see some of the racing!

Finally - Sunday is due to be dry but cold - please make sure you have enough warm clothing and take breaks when offered by relief marshals!

Best wishes and thank you.
See you Sunday!

Mark & Dave

Hi All,

I'll be sending out the Marshal's Pack later today when I've finalised a couple of things - however in advance of that the marshal briefing will be at 7:45am in the attrium of the Andrew Miller Building (next to Macrobert). The last race is schedule to finish at 17:10. The weather is looking like it will be cold, but dry with light winds - make sure you bring warm layers and take make use of relief marshals for breaks and to get warm!

For those helping out fpr the morning or the afternoon (i.e. not whole day) the change over point is 12:20. We have a planned 20 min gap from 12:10 to allow for change over but if at all possible please can helpers be in place by 12:30 as that's when the next race is due to start. I will aim to (subject to emergencys) be at sign-on from 12:00 to 12:30 to meet those coming 'on-shift' and hand out vouchers for food & drink.

For those who have volunteered to help with setup we're starting at 6:00am outside the Macrobert.

Finally - I can't thank you all enough - these races wouldn't run without you. The youth B's (U14) is full and we had to split the youth Ds (U10) and E's (U8's!!) as that was way over-subscribed. All-in-all it's shaping up to be an excellent day:

Regards
Mark

Hi All,

Crit-on-the-Campus is coming up fast on the 1st April this year - and we're asking for your help to marshal the event and make it run smoothly.
We know it's Easter Day - but it's the only date we could get when both the University and the Scottish Cycling Calendar has a slot. This is our only Crit this year as we're not running Crit-under-the-Castle - so it's our biggest event - if this is the only day you can help out this year so be it, but please help us to make it a great success.

Thank you!!!
Mark
__

On Sunday 1st April we're needing volunteers for the following roles:

15 Course Marshals
6 Traffic, Greeter and Car Park Marshals
4 Sign-On Organisers
6 Relief Marshals

We'll provide a food and drink voucher - one each per half-day you volunteer. We'll also arrange for a Marshals' room with the university this year to provide somewhere to get warm, leave spare kit and have a cup of tea etc.

David Lindsay is the race organiser this year and I'm reprising my role as Chief Marshal (again!).

Don't worry if you haven't done it before - it's very easy and if you're unsure what's involved PM/email me (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or Dave (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and we'll get back to you. Ideally I'd like people to commit for a whole day, but if you can't manage that please consider if you could manage a half day. If you're racing and could help out too we can accomodate some time either side to allow for warm and recovery!

Together we have put on an excellent event over the last few years and you've all been a real credit to the club - in order for the event to run as well we need your help - so please fill reply and fill in your names below!

1. Rachel Vevers
