On the 12th February the SLLC (South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture) cyclocross race took place in Chatelherault Country Park in Hamilton. The event comprises both Youth and Adult races with over 200 competitors taking part.
The course is centred around an impressive 18th century hunting lodge taking in some beautiful trails around the park. Though the riders get little time to enjoy this as they struggle up and down hills, round some twisty sections and over the inevitable man-made CX obstacles. All made harder by some very cold, wet conditions.
In the senior races we had the following Stirling riders taking part:
Ivan Navarro - 14th
Derek Eadie - 20th
It's always good to see new faces getting out and enjoying some racing action. This is Ivan's first race and Derek's first finish after suffering mechanical disaster in the Super Quaich last month.
Taking part from the Warriors were:
Eilidh Shaw - 1st
Alasdair Baillie - 4th
Jake Speed - 10th
Emma Bailie - 2nd
Struan Shaw - 1st
It's another great day out for the Shaw family with both Eilidh and Struan winning their races. Struan is improving fast and this was a strong result in a good sized, competitive field. Some determined riding by the Baillie's saw Emma get onto the podium and Alasdair just miss out in 4th.
With 3 podium places and 2 top 10 finishes it's been a great day out for all the Warriors representing the club.
